As the bicentenary year draws to a close, Chair of the Cyfarthfa Foundation, Geraint Talfan Davies has written a contribution for Touchstone 2025, sharing the vision for the future of Cyfarthfa.
In the piece Geraint draws attention to the globally significant history and heritage at Cyfarthfa, and in Merthyr more broadly, and advocates for the continued development of Cyfarthfa Castle and Park, both to properly commemorate Merthyr's influence, and to instigate new social and structural prosperity for the town.
He outlines how the Foundation’s strategic priorities closely align with the Welsh Government’s Priorities for Culture, highlighting the transformative impact these plans will have on Merthyr Tydfil and the wider community.
As we move in 2026 and beyond, the Foundation are looking forward to continuing to work closely with our partners and stakeholders to realise this potential and deliver the ambitious vision set out in 'The Cyfarthfa Plan' (2020).
