In 2025, Cyfarthfa Castle in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales is celebrating its bicentenary.

During 2025, Cyfarthfa200, a bumper programme events and activities is taking place to highlight the national and international importance of the Cyfarthfa site, and to celebrate the history of the people and communities that made it.
As part of Cyfarthfa200, the Public Rights of Way Team at Merthyr Tydfil Council have created handy markers to help navigate the way to Cyfarthfa Park and Castle.
The C200 markers go from;
· Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre and along the Taff Trail
· Merthyr Tydfil Bus station via St Tydfils shopping centre
· Cyfarthfa Retail Park
If you’re trying to find your way to an activity, are visiting the museum or just want to take a walk in the beautiful park, follow the markers that guide the way.
May is also National Walking Month, so it’s the perfect time to walk or wheel into the great outdoors and embrace the joys of connecting with nature!
Built in 1825 as a majestic family home for the Ironmaster William Crawshay II, Cyfarthfa Castle is the jewel in the crown of Merthyr Tydfil. Join the thousands of people, who every year, enjoy a visit to the castle and its expansive gardens, lake, play area and other activities.

Cyfarthfa200 has been co-ordinated and delivered by the Cyfarthfa Foundation and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council and has been part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The Markers have been made possible thanks to a Welsh Government Access Improvement Plan grant.
