Community in Cyfarthfa

The generosity of spirit and strong sense of community of the people in Merthyr Tydfil is a key part of the history of the county and is integral to the developments to Cyfarthfa.

The community of Merthyr Tydfil played a key role in shaping the modern world. 

Community is essential to the work being undertaken by The Cyfarthfa Foundation and development of the plan must include the involvement of local people, organisations and partners at all stages. The development of Cyfarthfa Park & Castle will encourage sustainable economic growth for the area and provide a nurturing space to celebrate the history of the community and provide an exciting destination for the people of Merthyr and beyond.

Education

The Cyfarthfa Foundation is currently working in partnership with Merthyr's Roots and the Education Team at Cyfarthfa Castle Museum & Art Gallery to deliver educational workshops to primary schools. These workshops highlight how Cyfarthfa was shaped by both the people of Merthyr and the natural world and emphasise the importance of Cyfarthfa to Wales and beyond.

Cyfarthfa Park & Castle is already more than just a museum and art gallery, the site is visited by nearly 500,000 people every year, but our aim will be to increase this number very substantially over time.
