Cllr. Brent Carter

Brent Carter is the Leader of Merthyr Tydfil Council and has been the Labour Group leader since 2024. He was elected to the Council in 2008 and has served as Portfolio Member for Social Services and Chair of Corporate Support and Resources Scrutiny Committee. He was raised in Merthyr Tydfil and attended Cyfarthfa High School. He has worked for central government and financial institutions for most of his career. He is also a Governor of Abercanaid Community School.
